Thinking of eloping to Italy?  Unfortunately for most countries except the US,  it takes several months to get approval for a wedding in Italy  -  see wedding in Italy regulations.

Contact your consulate/embassy in Italy to see how fast they can issue approvals - see bottom of page for contact information.

Our Quickest Elopement to Italy

Email from Dr. Criswell, 12th September, 2011 -

"Could not have been better.  Lucia is amazing.  I am still baffled how you all made this happen in 36 hours.  We appreciate all your help and if you all ever need any references, especially for someone in our situation, let me know.  I'd be happy to talk to them or send them an email.  Sapri is fabulous.  We are already planning a trip back to Italy in May and will definitely go back."

Note: we usually prefer at least one week's notice.  The minimum usually is three week days.

Elope to Italy

For US CITIZENS, it is extremely easy and rapid to elope to Italy.   We call this process our "no-hassle-approval" process.  US citizens simply bring their passports and divorce papers (if any)  to the American consulate in Naples then go down the road to the Italian government office that stamps the approval.  The total process in Naples usually takes 2 hours.

When you book the "no-hassle approval", Slow Dreams will immediately arrange approval with the local town hall and, if required, minister.    This approval is predicated on the American consulate's approval.

Note:  Catholics, wishing a church wedding,  must go through the full approval process.  There is no eloping to Italy process for Catholics.

For restrictions, costs, and full descriptions -  see "no-hassle-approval".

How much notice do I need to give to Elope to Italy?  This depends on the availability of the mayor. If you booked two weeks before the date,  you should be fine, after that there is a risk of it being too late.   We have done weddings with three days notice.
